The best part
of the day, was family meal. Every day,
someone from downstairs would call upstairs and that person would cry
“LUNCH!” And then everyone raced
downstairs to see what was on the menu.
The Chefs of which we had 3 of them would make a buffet of lunch
items. In the beginning, it was
exciting, but after a few months, it got old.
I was able to
befriend Lacey who is the Sales Group Assistant. Lacey is very thin and model pretty, but has
a bit of a rocker, tattoo side to her.
What she’s doing here is anyone’s guess.
Lacey was able to help me confirm some of my observances. No one “goes” to lunch. No one runs errands or walks around outside. Everyone eats really fast in the kitchen and
goes immediately back to work. It’s
legal by law to take a 30 minute lunch, but Lacey told me that it’s
“forbidden.” Family Meal was the owner’s
way of keeping our lunch hour on the premises and everyone chained to their
desks.
Meals ranged
from a bowl of salad (just lettuce), leftovers from a party the night before
(usually pastas and lamb) and then sometimes a new item of whatever the chef
wanted to whip up. There was generally
left over cheese and chocolate flour-less cake.
Oh, how I grew to hate that cake.
When the old
chef left and the new chef came in, I gained 10 pounds. His food was way too good. After awhile, I gave up family meal and
packed my own lunch and snacks to take the weight off.
