At the end of
each night, unbeknownst to you, Gertrude would write an evaluation of you and
the event and send it to the boss. I was
always under the impression that if you were given a written evaluation, you
were to get a copy of it. Not so at The
Store.
Gertrude was
Dina’s boss. In addition to shipping
management, Dina’s job was to set up and prep the events. Gertrude and Dina hated each other. Dina was young and pretty and was constantly
talking about her dating life. When I
started at the Store, Dina could not stop talking about her boyfriend who ended
up dumping her and then she threw herself into this world wind depression that
made me want to choke her. You know the
whoa-is-me type? That was her. To Dina, everything in her life sucked, but
when she saw an opportunity, she took it.
When there was a bachelor’s party at the Store, Dina wore a skirt, her
lowest cut blouse, did her hair and put on makeup. I’m pretty certain that this angered Gertrude
to no end who lives a life of solitude.
Dina was sure
that Gertrude had it in for her and wanted proof. So, one night, Gertrude just happened to
leave her e-mail up for all to see and Dina thought nothing of skimming through
all those nightly evaluations. Her
downfall was printing them out. I don’t
know how Gertrude knew what she did.
But, she knew. They called an
expert IT guy in to review the pc and saw what was printed out and at what
time. She was fired on the spot and we
were all questioned.
Whenever
Gertrude wanted to speak with you in private, you were asked to step into the
small wine room. She asked me if I had
anything to do with it. In all honesty,
I did not. I actually told Dina to quit
it. I was there, yes, but I wouldn’t
even look at the print outs when she handed them to me. I did tell Gertrude that we had a right to
see our evaluations, but not in that way.
